Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News. I remember hearing Smoke Yourself Thin years and years ago and thinking "Hey up, there's a band I should invest some time in" and promptly didn't. Then when visiting my mum and her Sky system I heard Float On and thought it was brilliant. So I bought the album. It's great. Kinda miffed I didn't take up the offer of Modest Mousing all those years ago, but that's life.

Haven't heard much Modest Mouse, I've got 'The Moon & Antarctica' album lying around somewhere but it never really grabbed me... From what I remember of them they were just a very, very American sounding, not so good and slightly more hyperactive version of The Flaming Lips... Hmmh, might dig it out again though, give it a try.
Anyways, last album? Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Streetcore, which I brought largely thanks to The Clash, thought it was worth a try, not overjoyed with it though, apart from the cover of Redemption song it's very unimpressive... -------------------- |

I went kinda crazy in HMV the other day when i went to get my mum some classical for her birthday.
Wound up buying myself 'When the Pawn....' by Fiona Apple, 'The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady' by Charles Mingus and 'Chaos AD' by Sepultura. I've listened to he first 2 once and it sounds like i'm going to love them forever. Still yet to listen to the sepultura album. -------------------- "...and we resolve, if we are to be forever prey to errors and delusions, that they shall at least be natural and entertaining" - David Hume

bandini - the total cost of all those records was about £60. you could spend that on four albums in hmv, and i'm sure many people do, every week. i think it was an excellent way to spend my money. and i hadn't bought anything for about three or four weeks before this little spree, due to my own prior poverty.
and don't try the guilt thing. i work hard, for shit pay, and i'll spend my money how i like. how much do you spend on feeding the hungry, compared to your own music expenditure? |

well i spend a fair amount now and then but i do my best not to spend it on such heaps of awfulness. in my experience i've found that the starved and poverty stricken forgive my lack of charity due to my wizardly taste procuring greatness with every purchase.
you, my friend, have no such respite. -------------------- fuck natzi punks
