I haven't bought any albums in a while - ever since I took Voiders' advice of going into Virgin and just stealing them.

Indeed. I must be a mug, myself, for paying hard-earned money for a lavish, extremely well thought out and lovingly packaged piece of absolutely outstanding music that four artists, whom I strongly doubt make a living out of this anyway, have spent about three years working themselves into the ground on, whilst also supporting a company that genuinely cares for this kind of music and has provided me with excellent service for over a decade, when I could probably have found and DL'd it gratis within twenty minutes. Yes, I must look quite the fool.

Oh, and many lulz go out to Earls if he genuinely did report that guy from The Void.

One of more favourite record labels is closing down due to piracey. This is the stats they state:

In one week on a single russian pirate site Seabound's "Double-Crosser" was downloaded 5000 times BUT in three weeks only 2500 albums were sold worldwide.

So you can only guess how much is lost over many sites on many weeks.

Here is the full article:

Here are some of the albums I have received recently:

Double-Crosser by Seabound
Fantastic Playroom by New Young Pony Club
An End Has A Start by Editors
Because of the Times by Kings Of Leon

I just bought Lisa Lindley Jones' EP and single. One of the best female solo artists I've heard for a long while. She is supporting iLiKETRAiNS on their new tour so should be a top gig. I'll be at Exeter Cavern up the front for that for sure.
Also bought the debut album by Swedish band Oh Laura and Bishop Allen's 'The Broken String' album is just ace.

Well, nice to see after about a year of not posting, this ol' place is still going strong.

Nothing much changes eh?

And on that subject.... the last album i bought was:
Joesph Arthur: Let's Just Be.

It's pretty crap. Ish. If you like Old Joseph, don't buy this. This is New Joseph, gone all hippy and, for want of a better expression, 'loose'. I don't like it. Nuclear Daydream I can about cope with, but I miss the good ol' days of Redemption's Son. Sorry.

Nice to be back though smile.gif

VAST - "April"

Can't listen to it at the moment - I have builders/plumbers doing the bathroom, so I'm deafened or narked because I get woken up by the noisiest jobs at 8:30, while the quie-*test*-('") jobs are usually when I'm out of bed and pissed off.

Coincidentally, that takes my tally of albums release din 2007 to the grand total of TWO.

I heard he had/has reverted to use his name now, is it true? Is the album any good?

I think I have reached about sixty 2007 releases but not many I would count as superb.

It's still a VAST album - it was always Jon Crosby and various session musicians (apart from the firts album, which was almost all Jon).

When I get quieter builders/plumbers, I'll let you know if it's any good - it's hard to enjoy an album with various industrial noises going on in the background, and being grumpy as you were rudely awoken by them once again.

I've just read his myspace page and he indeed has also been using his name as Jon Crosby and the Resonator Band a "folk basesd side project".

Having read the VAST Myspace page...

http://www.myspace.com/vast

...if he's touring the album, as well as releasing it, the Resonator Band is a side project, as is the fashion for geniuses (as well as Jack White and Pete Doherty).

Finally got around to listening to it - it's good, but as it's an accoustic album, I got the feeling several songs would be vastly superior (pun not intended) with the full production.

Just bought:

The Shaky Hands - The Shaky Hands
The Postmarks - The Postmarks
Georgie James - Places

Also finally bought the Sonic Youth 'Goo' 2003 reissue for the extra tracks and improved quality, as the one I bought in 1990 is knackered and it's a great album.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV

Track, um, 33 is way addictive. It's all bleepy and squelchy and bassy and moody and stuff.
