Can't be bothered to search through to see if this has already been mentioned, but check out Etgar Keret's 'The Bus Driver Who Wanted To Be God' Very good, surreal short stories, one of which, 'Kneller's Happy Campers' is being made into a film, with none other than Mr Tom Waits as Kneller. The film will be called 'Wristcutter's: A Love Story'

Just finished 'Everything is Illuminated' by Jonathan Safran Foer, and by god is it bloody good. Beautifull written, and absolutely devasting, why oh why did i not read this years ago when i first wanted to.

It's brill, ain't it? He released his second book a few months ago, but it was BAAAAD. Leave that one well alone. I can't imagine how you could follow EII though...

just finished:
Yevgeny Zamayatin "We". Apparently the book that inspired Orwell's 1984. Was good, but not quite on the same devastating scale as Orwell.
and
Emily Bronte: "Wuthering Heights" for the first time. Again, not quite what i was expecting, but heartbreaking nonethless

Now reading Thomas Hardy -Jude the Obscure

Dipping in and out of Gaddafi's Green Book - and people say he's the madman? Makes a hell of a lot of sense in what he says about Western "democracy" and party systems.

Six String Hero- 05-24-2006
Apparently in 1989 Gaddafi claimed there was irrefutable proof that Shakespeare was in fact an Arab called Sheikh Speare.

I don't think anyone would ever really say that, but I really wish he did.

Six String Hero- 05-24-2006
Read Sheikh Speare's Antony and Cleo this evening. It's probably the most exciting and suspense-filled Shakespeare I've ever read - honestly had no idea what was going to happen, utterly lost in it. Fantastic. The last act is...well, to use an adjective would ruin it, but there's a bit with a character called Eros which is amongst the most powerful literature I've ever read.

Wicked.

I just finished reading that too! was so good, really enjoyed it (probably on a par with Join Me too, which is never bad). Loved the ending, and the Geese for Peace idea... I must keep a look out for that hypnotic dog, sounds wonderful.
