She's received an Oscar nomination (or is it two?), and has featured in the likes of Minority Report, which as UK actors go is fairly impressive - the UK press always like to go nuts over anyone who has any success in Hollywood.

Even if not getting your name on the poster isn't what anybody with the meanest intellect would term a "success."

I watched Larry Clark's 'Bully' again last night, really shockingly good film, one of the most brutal i've seen. It is probably the film you would least want your parents to catch you watching. Of course last night it was my brother, who is convinced i'm gay anyway, who decided to stroll into my room to ask for a cigarette at the EXACT moment the scene with 5 or 6 half-naked men dancing on a stage for money started. Had some fun explaining that one...

Just watched 'Cowboy Bebop: The Movie' again, it's sci-fi, it's anime and it's...cool! Not often you can say that. Stunning animation, strong characters, excellent action sequences great soundtrack and a decent enough plot, though the ending kinda feels anticlimactic and cliched after so many good ideas. Nevertheless, recommended.

Caught Billabong Odyssey wiuth the missus the other night. Rather good, if you're into that kind of (surfing) thing.

I've been too busy formulating my answer to that timeless question: "Where were you when you fist saw the lesbian kiss in Neighbours."

Errm, on the sofa?

Up it's own ass, really. Anyone that has a character in the title is too far removed from the notion of coherent, entertaining film.

I saw Ghost Dog recently for the 1st time. Not exactly current, but you really should see it. Gangster-style action, coupled with Samurai maxims should NOT work. But it does. And Forrest Whittaker plays the role well. It is a difficult role to play, because the emotion portrayed by the character is subtle, to say the least. He looks real though, rather than wooden.

Saw Polar Express.

Terribly boring, turgid plot, but visually it is spectacular. With a decent story this kind of computer animation could contribute to a really great film. This isn't it, but worth seeing for the presentation.

Do you include the Coen Brothers' films in that? (Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing) And what about several of Tim Burton's films? (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Batman, Ed Wood). You've also written off most disney cartoon features, 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', 'Scarface', 'The Godfather', 'Dracula', 'The Straight Story', 'The Elephant Man', 'Jules et Jim', 'Dr Strangelove', 'Spartacus', 'Lolita', 'Ben Hur', 'Saving Private Ryan', 'Malcolm X', 'Lord of the Rings', 'Rocky'.....

If you have a vehement dislike for all of them, fair enough I suppose, I'm just curious. Given that most films revolve around its characters, it seems perfectly reasonable to have the protagonist's name as the title to me, although there are more graceful ways of naming a film I will concede.

OK, read my post again, then read a dictionary, and perhaps look at the titles of the films you're mentioning...

God, it's getting so Newgrounds here...
