Best In Show, the film made prior to A Mighty Wind by that Guest fella who did This Is Spinal Tap...doesnt feature any folk music though.
For shame. |
i think best in show might be the best of their faux-documentaries. certainly the most memorable characters, and some of the best jokes. though it loses points for not being about musicians...

[QUOTE=Average Furry Animal,Sep 28 2004, 06:46 PM] Event Horizon, however, is one evil film. Highly recommended. |
So good, Velvet Acid Christ sampled it.
Anyway, if you forgot to see Blue Velvet, why? Do so ASAP.
As a -*test*-('")ament to human endurance and determination, Touching The Void is a truly gripping experience. Scary too.

That could also be said of the little known German blue scat movie - The Touching Of The Cloth.
Finally got round to watching
Lost In Translation and really enjoyed it. I'd also like to recommend the fantastic
Life Is Beautiful to anyone who hasn't seen it and wants a good cry
White Sands is a good film noir-style thriller: think The Maltese Falcon in 1990's New Mexico. And the comedy The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert deserves a mention as the most screamingly camp thing ever to see the light of day. Imagine Terence Stamp as an Australian transvestite cabaret singer...
I just have to point everyone in the direction of a couple of my all-time favourite films. They both stem from childhood, but the more I watch them as an 'adult', the more I love them. The first is "The princess bride" with Mandy Patinkin and Andre the Giant (most people I've spoken to only remeber the film because of the latter), and "Willow". Both complete nonsensical madness, but in a weird way, not.
Just bought Ju-On: The Grudge for a tenner. Scared the shit out of my girlfriend in the cinema, and has a few well placed shocks to go with the skin crawling moments. Hey, it is Halloween soon enough, and Michael Myers can suck my balls.
Got around to seeing The Untouchables last night, wasn't too bad. Not the tour de force i was expecting but an extremely watchable movie nonetheless, and a rarity for me to find a film starring Andy Garcia in which he actually earns some of those plaudits he always seems to receive.
I saw Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster yesterday. Not an obvious movie choice for many people but as a study of a band in crisis almost ready to disintegrate, then the long, hard road to a triumphant comeback it should have an appeal for music fans in general, even if you're not into metal. I can see why Dave Mustaine was so pissed off about the way his brief appearance was edited though. It made him look like a whinging girlie.
Open Water = NOT a good film.
Made worse by the fact The Missus was squirming and whining throughout the damn thing.

my boyfriend wants to see that but he can't as the 1 cinema here isn't showing it.
recent films i've seen include: the crow - utterly fantastic, final destination 2, the ring, insomnia, one hour photo, 25th hour, identity, the missing, bourne identity, ocean's 11, shuan of the dead and blow. some i've seen before some i haven't and both my boyfriend & i fell asleep to 21 grams.
Caught Hero the other day - much goodness. However, it was ruined because that fucking Phones 4U ad was shown before it.

Tis mighty annoying to be sure...who is the fellow that features prominently? Methinks i recognise him from somewhere but i can't put my finger on it...

I saw 21 Grams, with Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro, for the first time the other day. I thought it was amazing. I would like to kiss Benicio on the lips - a scary guy with true screen presence. Although, both Sean Penn and Naomi Watts are stunning and gripping too.
Watch this filum.
I feel like a bad version of Barry Norman. Kill me.

i was given a teeshirt of the FILLUM. would you like it?
