I don't know - the past couple of seasons shown on terrestrial could easily make you think The Simpsons isn't funny - lazy, arrogant and complacent are closer to it.
Anyway: Monty Python, Bill Hicks, Spaced, Chris Morris (Nathan Barley excepted), The League of Gentlemen, Jasper Carrott, Black Books, South Park...
|
I don't think The Simpsons is quite as brilliant as it once was, but to keep up those kind of standards would be pretty much impossible. I just got season 5 on dvd, and the density of classic moments is mindbending. It's still one of the best shows on TV.
South Park is great!
Let's have a mention for Help - best thing I've seen for ages.
Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David is brilliant.
Seeing the Tory campaign ad "It's not racist to have controls on immigration" with white paint covering up the second word.
Democracy in action!!!

We have a mention for Help, on page 1
Brass Eye, Spaced, I'm Alan Partridge, Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partidge, The Day Today, On The Hour, Today With Richard Not Judy, The Adam and Joe Show, Father Ted, Black Books, Bill Hicks, Daniel Kitson, Dylan Moran, Phoenix Nights, Family Guy, Futurama, People Like Us, Operation: Good Guys, Help, This is Spinal Tap, Best In Show, The Office, Peep Show, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Monty Python's various guises and any misfortune befalling June Sarpong or Jane Middlemiss.
What do I find funny?
Well, going by last night's 50 Grea-*test*-('") Yadda Yadda Yadda, I must say my sense of humour is more advanced than those that think Little Britian, Bo Selecta, Victoria Wood, Vic Reeves or Smack The Pony.
Then again, where they got the 100 nominations from can surely be described as "out their ass."

It certainly is! Repeating the question, then
not answering it - you crack me up man!

I agree, a lot of that was poor i thought. Plus even when they showed something from a decent programme it tended to be a sketch which wouldnt even be in my top ten from that particular show, let alone all of them.
I did laugh out loud tho at the Big Train sketch in which jesus wants a word with satan

Technically I have answered it - what do I find funny? Something that's actually funny. Besides, I've already answered it twice, haven't I?!?
I'd gladly burn Little Britain and it's fans to the ground if it didn't involve a jail term.
I didn't watch that show just because I knew how irate I'd get.

I... I guess so. But now I've accepted that, the whole world seems different. I don't know what to believe anymore.
And now here's some more comedy shows: Frasier, The Office, Family Guy, Fawlty Towers, Shooting Stars, The Day Today, I'm Alan Partridge, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Phoenix Nights, the Royle Family, Peep Show. That'll do!
As well as many of the ones above (the office, simpsons etc) I must mention MASH and Yes, Minister (or Yes, Prime Minister) as two (three) of the funniest sitcom series I've had the pleasure of seeing.
